Move over disney princesses...

...you've got competition.

For the past three days, Ruby has insisted on being called Giada. Since Sunday, she has rarely dropped out of character and even has us acknowledge her little girl Jade. For all you Food Network fans, there is no need to expand. But for those that are in the dark, Giada is a Food Network cooking star and on her show, Giada at Home , her daughter Jade occasionally makes an appearance.

Ruby...I mean Giada, has even gone as far as giving the name Ruby away. The snowman that sits on our counter is now Ruby (don't ask, I'm just as baffled by it). Just last night in our family prayer, Hugh mistakenly mentioned Ruby, and in all seriousness Ruby...I mean Giada, stopped him and  said, "You're talking about the snowman, right?" Hugh and I lost it. She even corrected the home teachers when they called her Ruby.

Today I asked her why she wants to be called Giada...her reply, "Because I cook." It's true. Since Grandpa Scott gave her real cooking supplies for Christmas, Ruby loves cooking up her own stuff for most of our meals. She is so kind to offer us her creations and never wants to take any for herself...hmmm, I wonder why?

Chocolate, flaxseed, teriyaki sauce stew anyone?

I need to throw her apron on her and get a pic...one she could use for her own personal cooking bio. But looking through my pics, I felt this one will do. And although she isn't going by Ruby these days...I love this picture because the essence of my little Ruby is written all over it. Her baldness, her smile, that dimple on her chin, and her very favorite "rainbow shirt".

**Disclaimer: Ruby and I really don't watch the Food Network all that often. Maybe once a week. I promise.

So cute and funny. (I am one of Hugh's classmates- in his carpool). I shared this story with my whole family at Sunday dinner when we saw a Giada salad dressing bottle on the table. Everyone thought it was hilarious.
